About the MSME Financing Map

The MSME Financing Map is a user-friendly platform developed by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Entrepreneurship and Technological Innovation (MEA) and its SME Unit, with support from the World Bank. It was created to close the information gap that often prevents Surinamese entrepreneurs from finding the right financing options for their businesses.

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are the backbone of Suriname’s economy. Whether you're just starting your entrepreneurial journey or looking to grow, this map helps you identify financing instruments and technical assistance tailored to your business stage and needs, so you can scale, innovate, and compete more effectively, at home and beyond.

To ensure broad accessibility, the MSME Financing Map is available in Dutch, Sranan Tongo, and English, making it easier for entrepreneurs to navigate financing options.

How the Map Works

The MSME Financing Map is a centralized and regularly updated directory of financing instruments available to Surinamese MSMEs and startups. It brings together public, private, and international actors offering grants, loans, guarantees, credit, and investment, all in one place

By closing the information gap many entrepreneurs face, the map helps users:

Discover financing opportunities tailored to their business needs

Navigating through the complex and often fragmented financial ecosystem of Suriname

Make informed decisions when seeking funding to start or grow their enterprise

Sustain growth even after the SCSD and SURGE programs conclude

Whether you’re just starting out or ready to scale, the map is designed to guide you toward the right financial tools and partners to move your business forward.

Why It Matters

MSMEs are central to Suriname’s economic development, playing a vital role in job creation, innovation, and local value addition. Yet, many entrepreneurs still face difficulties identifying and accessing the right financial instruments to start, grow, or modernize their businesses.

This challenge is especially significant for early-stage and small-scale enterprises, which often lack the networks, information, or support systems to confidently navigate the financing landscape.

The MSME Financing Map helps bridge this gap by providing entrepreneurs with clear, centralized access to financing and support opportunities, enabling them to make informed decisions, build resilience, and strengthen their contribution to Suriname’s inclusive and sustainable growth.
